The Limestone Bluffs RC&D assisted in the organization of a Buy Fresh Buy Local chapter for East Central Iowa. The BFBL Chapter is an awareness and marketing campaign for locally produced foods. A steering committee was formed and selected the name “River Bend Buy Fresh Buy Local Chapter” to signify the eastern Iowa location. The local chapter of BFBL includes members from the region that support the production, marketing, and consumption of locally produced foods.
A directory of members listing their products was printed and distributed within the region. The committee is now working closely with the new local foods coordinator in Dubuque.
The goal is to use BFBL as a base to expand growers and restaurants in Dubuque.
